Weird But True

In the 1970s, groundhogs burrowing at a site near Delaware, Ohio, uncovered an ancient village believed to belong to people of the Cole Culture. These were indigenous people who lived in the area toward the end of the Woodland period (1000 B.C.E. to 1000 C.E.). Though the site was never fully excavated, groundhogs brought bits of stone, pottery, and animal bones to the surface for scientists to study.
